Brian Coffill is the Director of Bands and Music Department Chair at Yorktown High School, serving as the director of the Yorktown Marching Patriots and conductor of the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, and Jazz Ensemble. Mr. Coffill also oversees the Winter Percussion Ensemble, Winter Color Guard, and various chamber ensembles, in addition to teaching Advanced Placement Music Theory. Mr. Coffill holds a BA in Music and BS in Education from the University of Connecticut, where he studied French Horn and Natural Horn under Robert Hoyle. His conducting teachers have included Dr. Jeffrey Renshaw, Dr. William Halpin, and Dr. Norman Wika. Active in many musical ensembles, he performed at Carnegie Hall with the University of Connecticut Wind Ensemble and also served for two years as Head Drum Major of the 300-member University of Connecticut Marching Band, the Pride of Connecticut. While performing with the University of Connecticut Pep Bands, he earned a Dual-National Championship Ring playing for the 2004 Men's and Women's Basketball National Champions. That season also included performing at the NCAA Men's Final Four at the AlamoDome in San Antonio, Texas. As a result of his work with the Pride of Connecticut, he was presented with Kappa Kappa Psi's J. Lee Burke Award, a prestigious national honor recognizing outstanding contributions to college bands. Mr. Coffill is an active arranger whose works have been performed at numerous sporting events and concerts for thousands of fans across the country. He is a member of various professional, honorary, and service organizations in music and education including the Music Educators National Conference, the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association, the National Band Association, the International Horn Society, and Kappa Kappa Psi.
