How to link your Safeway card to Yorktown Band Boosters’ eScrip

To reduce your student’s band fees, link your Safeway card to Yorktown Band Boosters eScrip (www.escrip.com).  If you did this last year, you need to renew your link between August 1st and November 1st to get credit for this year. (Renewing is easy.) Or if you have never linked your Safeway card with Yorktown Band Boosters, you can do it at any time during the year.  Instructions are below.

*  ALL of your Safeway eScrip rewards are credited against your child's Yorktown Band account.  100% of your proceeds go to you, not into a general pot for the band.

*   Safeway returns 1% on monthly purchases up to $400; 2% on monthly purchases between $400 and $600; and 3% on monthly purchases of $600 to $650.  A family that often shops Safeway can earn up to $9.50 a month - that's over $100 a year.

*   The site offers a “help” e-mail customer service contact. For example, if you’ve lost your Safeway card number, the customer service contact can e-mail it to you based on your phone number.  You can also try phoning 1-877-SAFEWAY.

*   Safeway allows the band to link with its eScrip. (We are exploring the possibility of other merchants that may be linked and will report back on this.)  There is no cost to you.  Register today so you earn every penny possible during the school year, and also if you have a problem you get a quicker response from the customer service contact before she gets swamped with other customers registering at the start of school.

To Sign up for the first time on www.escrip.com:
Step 1:  Click on the "Sign Up - It's Free" link
Step 2:  Type "Yorktown Band Boosters" and click "Search"
Step 3:  Yorktown Band Boosters group (id 149538595) should be displayed. Click on its link.
Step 4:  Click "Next"
Step 5:  Fill in mandatory personal information
Step 6:  For "Select Card", choose Safeway, enter the card number and click "Enter"
Step 7:  Click "Next"
Step 8:  Click "Next"
Step 9:  Click "Confirm"

To update an existing eScrip Account on www.escrip.com:
As of Aug 1, you should be able just to click once on a box on the top of the home eScrip page allowing you to renew.  Also early in August families who were registered the previous year with eScrip received a magazine called “eScrip Smart Shopper” that had a prepaid postcard inside allowing simple renewal. If those possibilities for you didn’t happen, try these steps:
Step 1: click on "members/supporters"
Step 2: For "Select Card", choose Safeway, enter the card number and click "Enter"
Step 3: It should show your name and supported groups at the top.  Click on "My eScrip"
Step 4: Enter your UserName/Password and  Click "Go"
Step 5: Click on "Go To Account Administration"
Step 6: Click on "Group Selection"
Step 7: Type "Yorktown Band Boosters" in the box and click "Search"
Step 8: Yorktown Band Boosters group (id 149538595) should be displayed. Click on its link.
Step 9: Yorktown Band Boosters should now be shown as one of your supported groups.
