October 4: Homecoming football game performance and pizza dinner for performers
The homecoming football game performance is tonight! Come support the Marching Band and show your school pride by filling the stands. Thank you to all the parent volunteers who are signed up to help tonight – this couldn’t happen without you!
Marching Band members: All members will be provided with a pizza dinner after rehearsal and before the performance. There won’t be much time in between, so make sure you don’t miss out! Please remember to bring water bottles and your appropriate uniform pieces (for marchers, this is your Y-Band uniform, long black socks, and MTXs).
October 5: Marching Band performance at USBands Marine Corps Invitational
We are excited to take the Marching Band show, Let it Be, to the USBands Marine Corps Invitational tomorrow! See the schedule here. Parent volunteers, you will receive an email with some additional reporting/schedule information. Student report time is 8:45a.
Marching Band members: Please pack water bottles, snacks, and sunblock! Make sure you have your appropriate under uniform pieces (for marchers, this is your Y-Band uniform, long socks, and MTXs) in addition to the rest of your uniform.
October 5: Civitans Garage Sale fundraiser
Thank you to everyone who very generously donated puzzles for the fundraiser! Please encourage family and neighbors to come to the Civitans Garage Sale on Saturday, October 5, to buy one!
The Civitans Garage Sale will take place from 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM, at the Washington-Liberty parking garage. All proceeds will be donated for the band program.
October 8 and future: Marching Band props for stadium rehearsals
The full Marching Band show will be on the field, which means props will be incorporated into the rehearsals. Rehearsals are already long, and the students have other equipment and clean-up responsibilities, so it would be great if you could spare 30 minutes of your time before or after rehearsal to help construct and move the props to and from the field. No experience necessary! Please sign up hereif you can help.
October 10: Help needed – Morning props building and home game volunteers; Rising Patriots and Spin with the Patriots Night
Looking for a great way to help before you even log on for the work day? Please consider volunteering to help construct props at Yorktown High School during the mornings of home games. No experience necessary! Prop building extraordinaire, Jane Pair, will be there to lead the work. Please sign up here.
We still need additional parent volunteers to help move the props and other equipment on/off the field during halftime. Please sign up here.
This is also Rising Patriots and Spin with the Patriots Night. Please help spread the word to middle school students! It’s a great opportunity for them to work with experienced Marching Band and Color Guard members and get excited about joining the band!
October 16: Restaurant Night at Lebanese Taverna
We all know weeknights can be busy with trying to get through traffic and getting students to/from after school activities, so why not take the night off from cooking and dine out at Lebanese Taverna?! At the Westover and Market locations, Lebanese Taverna will donate 20% of the bill to the Yorktown Band. The offer is valid throughout the day with online food, online gift card purchase, catering, and take-out orders. It is not applied on Door Dash ordering. Please share this flyer with friends, family, and neighbors through email and social media!
October 16 – 25: Help Needed – Concert attire fittings
Before you know it, it will be concert season! We need help fitting the concert and wind ensemble students for their concert attire (dresses and tuxedos). No experience necessary! Please sign up here to help.
October 23: Band parent social at Westover Beer Garden
We’re all friends here 🙂 Come hang out with other band parents at the Westover Beer Garden on October 23rd, between 5:00-7:00p, and get to know each other a little better. There will be Band Booster volunteers in attendance, if you want to ask any questions about the program in a more informal setting. Don’t have questions? That’s OK – come relax over a cold beverage! We hope to see you there!
We look forward to seeing you all at the homecoming football game tonight! Go Patriots and Go Band!!
