We are fortunate at Yorktown to offer a variety of ensembles to the student body. Check out each ensemble’s page for a more detailed description of what membership in each group entails.
Wind Bands
Yorktown has two wind bands, the Symphonic Band and the Concert Band.
Percussion Ensemble
The Percussion ensemble is a full year, 1-credit course for students who are enrolled as percussionists in the Symphonic or Concert Band.
Jazz Band
Yorktown offers two Jazz ensembles, the Big Band and the Jazz Combo.
Marching Band
This ensemble performs at football games and competes with other schools in the Mid-Atlantic region from August through early November.
Colorguard
Colorguard is a bit both pageantry and sport. Flags, rifles, sabers, and dance are used to interpret music and entertain audiences. Colorguard is part of the Marching Band program and additionally offers an extracurricular Winterguard competitive ensemble.
Indoor Percussion
The Yorktown Indoor Percussion ensemble is an extra-curricular, competitive percussion ensemble.
Tri-M
The Tri-M Music Honor Society is a National Honor Society designed to recognize students for their academic and musical achievements.
