Where does the money go?

The money the band fundraisers supports the program by:

  • Providing financial assistance for students to participate in the band programs.
  • Purchasing music equipment and repairing instruments.
  • Purchasing music for ensembles.
  • Maintaining marching and concert uniforms
  • Hiring professional musicians to come and work with students.
  • Paying for transportation needs throughout the year.
  • Cover costs associated with the spring trip.

Band members pair up and are sent out in groups, driven by parent chaperones to Yorktown neighborhoods to represent the YHS band programs and ask for financial support for the band. Band members from all the band programs (Marching Band, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Drumline), as well as color guard members, participate in this event.  

The students go door-to-door to hand-out flyers with information about the band, talk to people about the great Yorktown programs for band, and ask for donations to help support the activities of the band throughout the year.  

Dressed in their uniforms and armed with information about the current Yorktown Band needs and all of the charm in the world, students raise almost a quarter of our annual budget!

Help us!

Students and parent drivers will need to arrive at the YHS cafeteria on the morning of September 30 at 8:30 a.m.  Breakfast will be served.  Students and parents will receive further instructions for a successful day, as well as details for the neighborhoods they will visit.  Students in Marching Band will change into their uniforms before heading out to visit the neighborhoods and ask for support from the community.
