Unlike the color guard in the fall marching season, winter guard is performed indoors in a gymnasium. Performances make use of recorded music, painted floors and scenery. The Indoor Guard competes regionally within the Atlantic Indoor Association circuit.

Is your child interested in joining a team activity at Yorktown, but hasn’t found just the right fit yet?  Encourage her or him to join the AWARD-WINNING Yorktown team for an interest meeting and/or open house in early November!

NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY, and they don’t have to try out. The coaches and veteran color guard members will support and teach them all they need to know to get started and have a successful winterguard experience!  The season begins in late November and runs through March.  And if your child ends up loving it, she or he can choose to pick up again in the summer to join us for marching band season too!

Our current color guard team recently won FIRST PLACE at the JMU Parade of Champions marching band competition on Oct. 7!

Come give us a try, and join in on the excitement!

INTEREST MEETING:  Wednesday Nov. 1, 3:30-4:15, in the band room

OPEN HOUSES:  Monday Nov. 6 Wednesday Nov. 8, at 6-8 pm, in the school atrium
