I understand that not all students will be available to audition on the rescheduled date. If that is the case for your student, please email me to let me know. Wind Ensemble students who are required to audition will schedule an audition with me late this week or early next week. Please review the following message from our District 12 chairperson.
District 12 MS and HS Band Students and Parents:
Due to the cancelation of school events this past weekend, the All-District Band Auditions for our district are now going to take place THIS SATURDAY, January 18 at McLean High School. The schedule for this Saturday is remaining exactly the same. Performance times, block assignments and registration times are all going to stay the same as was previously distributed.
We have about 1,200 students registered to audition from Fairfax and Arlington counties. The size of this event and the number of moving pieces makes this simply impossible to accommodate everybody’s requests for schedule changes this late in the process. Please adhere to the times that you have already been assigned. We cannot start over with scheduling everybody individually or taking requests at this point. Unfortunately, there is also no fair way to accommodate students participating in this audition on a different day or submitting virtually while others do it in person. There is no perfect solution for everybody involved and we are making the best of a “less-than-ideal” situation. We recognize that some hard choices might need to be made and some people may not be able to participate. We are sorry for those situations and wish that we were not put in this position. Please reach out to YOUR band director if you have questions about any of this.
Another logistical issue – McLean will also be hosting a wrestling tournament this coming Saturday, so parking on campus will be limited. Parents are encouraged to drop off/pick up or wait in cars. We won’t have a ton of space in the building to accommodate people waiting around this weekend.
