Dear Band Families,
Congratulations to the Pit Orchestra on a successful run of Anything Goes! There were so many compliments about the skill and playing stamina of our band members, with so many patrons appreciating the live music for the show. It was an added treat to see some of our band members perform on stage as well!

Yorktown Band Booster volunteer spotlight
Are you interested in a volunteer position next year, but not really sure what it’s all about? We will feature different volunteer roles in the weekly letter so you can understand the responsibilities and time requirements. Please see below for this week’s YBB volunteer spotlight!
Vice President (Officer Position): Being the Band Booster President is a big job, so having a second-in-command is a big help! The Vice President position has been fluid in its responsibilities over the past few years, so there is a lot of flexibility in what it could mean for you. The biggest thing is to have a good relationship with the President and work with each other to figure out a division of responsibilities that makes sense for both. If the President is unavailable, the Vice President can run Booster meetings, among other things. Time requirement: flexible, to be worked out with the President, but at minimum expected to attend all Booster and Board meetings; year-long commitment.
Concert Attire (Non-Officer Position): This is a great role for anyone who wants to help the band in a BIG way but can’t commit to a year-long role. The Concert Attire position is exactly like it sounds – helping the band students in Concert Band and Wind Ensemble look their best! The position requires time for sorting and organizing concert pieces (dresses and tuxedos) and for running the fittings (with volunteers helping!) during the school day. There is a handbook to help you plan accordingly. Time requirement: several hours per week during October, with a few prep hours in September and end-of-year closeout hours in June.
I’ll see many of you during the virtual YBB meeting on Tuesday. For everyone else, I wish you a quiet and relaxing spring break!
Go Band!!
