Dear Band Families,
Congratulations to the Yorktown Pit Orchestra for their second consecutive Cappies nomination! The production of Anything Goes was also recognized with NINE other nominations, speaking to the amazing talent of Yorktown’s Theatre, Choir, Band, and Orchestra students and their teachers! If your student was in the Pit Orchestra and would like to attend the Cappies Gala, they can fill out this form (please note that tickets cannot be guaranteed). Additionally, the Theatre Arts Parents (TAP – Theatre Boosters) are hosting an end-of-year event, and students who participated in any of the theatre productions during the year are welcome to attend. Please RSVP here.
As I’m sure you’ve noticed, the band update emails have spaced out some as we are nearing the end of the school year. Don’t let the email cadence fool you, though! Not only do we still have several band events left to look forward to, but a lot of work is happening behind the scenes to transition Booster roles to new volunteers. Speaking of which, if you weren’t able to check out the roster in the previous update, I am very happy to announce that Krista Boyd will be your Band Booster President next year! She and a talented group of Booster volunteers will keep things running smoothly so that you and your students can continue to enjoy our robust, successful, and (most importantly) super fun band program! Please welcome Krista, and be on the lookout for her name when she takes over the Booster communications next month. Please also note that, while we are grateful to those who have offered to take on some very important Booster roles, we still have a lot of vacancies for next year. Please consider volunteering for a role.

- May 16 – Theatre showcase and dessert potluck – 6:00p – RSVP here
- May 20 – Guard interest meeting – 3:30 – 5:00p
- May 20 – Band concert at YHS, 7:00p – Concessions sign up
- May 21 & 22 – Guard Open House – 6:00 – 8:00p
- May 29 (new date!) – Jazz on the Lawn at YHS, 7:00p
- June 2 – Cappies Gala at the Kennedy Center for students with tickets – 7:00p
- June 3 – Chamber Concert – 7:00p
- June 4 – YHS commencement ceremony, DAR
- June 5 – Band kick-off night in the cafeteria (band camp sign up, etc.) – 6:00p
