Dear band families,
Remember that the marching band kick-off is TONIGHT at 7pm in the YHS Cafeteria. This is for ALL rising marching students and caregivers (or those still contemplating). We’re also helping to spread the word about Mr. Norris’s retirement as Swanson Middle School’s director of bands. Please share his event and details (see below) throughout the band alumni community. Finally, we’re preparing for Spring Fever (with treats), Jazz on the Lawn, and our final restaurant night of the year!

2024-2025 Marching Band Kick-Off Night TONIGHT
Join us in the Yorktown cafeteria at 7pm for the kick-off to the 2024-2025 Marching Band season! We’ll find out details of the upcoming marching band show, band booster changes, band camp FAQs and more. Attendance is encouraged for all students and their families who will be participating in the marching band program next year.

In case you haven’t heard, Paul Norris is retiring after 30 years of service to the Swanson band community. An event is being planned for June 22 that will include a performance by current and alumni students, commemorations, and general appreciation for Mr. Norris’s achievements and contributions. Funds are being raised to cover costs (including Swanson staff overtime fees) via the sales of a special limited edition Swanson Music T-Shirt. Spring Fever
We’re proud to present the YHS Bands Spring Concert on Tuesday, May 21. The concert is entitled “Spring Fever” and will feature the Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, and United Sound. A flier is attached – please share! Sign up to provide or assist with refreshments for the concert so we can all enjoy each other’s company with some treats!
Jazz on the Lawn
Following up on the spring concert will be our annual Jazz on the Lawn event on Thursday, May 23. Join us in front of the school in the amphitheater for some jazz outdoors by our own YHS Big Band! This informal event is fun for families and the community.
Hold the Date: Restaurant Night
Our final restaurant night of the year is our Lebanese Taverna extravaganza. The Lebanese Taverna family has been part of the Yorktown community for generations and we’re thrilled to partner with them for our final event.
