Happy Labor Day Weekend!
We hope you are all enjoying the must deserved break after an intense start to the band season. Congratulations to our marching Patriots for a great showing at the blowout game on Thursday and thank you to all of the volunteers and donations to allow us to feed the students before the game and support the show.
Check out the updated YHS Bands website! The much needed facelift allows much better access on phones and tables. Key items include the “Latest” section which includes all group communications sent by the boosters or by Mr. Witkowski as well as the up-to-date calendar in Google calendar form. Subscribe to the calendar to see it alongside your family calendar and always stay up to date.

Next up for Marching Band: Away Game at Wakefield
Next Friday’s game is the traditional away game – this time at Wakefield, HS. Students will play in the stands as a pep band and get to see Wakefield’s halftime performance. We are in need of four parent chaperones for the trip. Chaperones ride the bus to/from Wakefield and stay with the students during the game. If you are able to chaperone please contact volunteer@yorktownband.org.
Hold the Date for Sloppy Mama’s
YHS Band Boosters are holding a fundraiser with Sloppy Mama’s on Wednesday, September 13! Sloppy Mama’s will donate a portion of proceeds for orders placed anytime, in person or online – for in-house or carry-out. This includes their wood-smoked BBQ, award-winning burgers, merchandise for the family, and barbeque items to stock your pantry and freezer. More details coming soon!
Band Day
Band Day is September 30! This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and the entire band program participates. More details to come separately.
STUDENTS: Fill out this Google form to let us know who you want to be partnered with on Band Day. We will try to make it happen, although there are no guarantees.
PARENTS:
- We need parent volunteers who are able to drive students around to assigned Yorktown neighborhoods. Sign up to drive here.
- We also need help with the Band Day breakfast (food, supplies, couple volunteers). Sign up to help with breakfast here.
Concessions
Don’t forget – we’re teaming up with the Yorktown Athletics Boosters to provide concessions support for Varsity, JV, and Freshman football games. In exchange for our help, the band boosters will receive a share of the profits corresponding to the amount of volunteers we have. Please consider signing up for a game (especially on nights when the band isn’t playing). Funds raised will go to support the FULL band program. Sign up today and put in the comments that you are a band volunteer.
