Date Announced for Booster Meeting
Our first booster meeting of the year will be on Tuesday, September 19, 7pm in Patriot Hall (at Yorktown). Join us to find out more about the coming year and how you can help support your band student!
Bus Chaperones Still Needed for Wakefield
Tomorrow night our pep band (marching band and wind ensemble students) will keep the visitors hyped up at Wakefield, HS. We are still in need of a few parent chaperones for the trip. Chaperones ride the bus to/from Wakefield and stay with the students during the game (no heavy lifting). If you are able to chaperone please contact volunteer@yorktownband.org.
If your student is part of the pep band but not in marching, please be sure they have turned in their Emergency Contact Form to Mr. Witkowski.
Sloppy Mama’s next Wednesday
Already feeling the rush of too many activities for dinner preparation? Leave the cooking to the professionals and support local business and our kids at the same time. YHS Band Boosters are holding a fundraiser with Sloppy Mama’s on Wednesday, September 13! Sloppy Mama’s will donate a portion of proceeds for orders placed anytime, in person or online – for in-house or carry-out. This includes their wood-smoked BBQ, award-winning burgers, merchandise for the family, and barbeque items to stock your pantry and freezer. Don’t forget to tell your cashier you’re with “Yorktown Band” or use promo code ytownband for online ordering.
New Volunteer Ask: Prop Storage
Our marching students are working hard and putting in many long days and a few late nights to get competition-ready. Parents are needed to help with prop storage after practice on nights when the props are in use (turf field practices). Details regarding how to store properly will be provided. A few parents per night will make quick work of getting our forest of props back into storage and help our students get home faster. Sign up for September rehearsals.

Band Day Forms Due
Band Day is September 30! This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and the entire band program participates. More details to come separately.
STUDENTS: Fill out this Google form to let us know who you want to be partnered with on Band Day. We will try to make it happen, although there are no guarantees.
PARENTS:
- We need parent volunteers who are able to drive students around to assigned Yorktown neighborhoods. Sign up to drive here.
- We also need help with the Band Day breakfast (food, supplies, couple volunteers). Sign up to help with breakfast here.
Meet Other Boosters
Don’t forget – we’re teaming up with the Yorktown Athletics Boosters to provide concessions support for Varsity, JV, and Freshman football games. In exchange for our help, the band boosters will receive a share of the profits corresponding to the amount of volunteers we have. Please consider signing up for a game (especially on nights when the band isn’t playing). Funds raised will go to support the FULL band program. Sign up today and put in the comments that you are a band volunteer.
