Hope you made it through the rainy weekend. Coming off of such a fun Rising Patriot Night it was very disappointing to have our first marching competition canceled. Fortunately the weather is looking great for our Band Day on Saturday!

Band Day
Our biggest fundraising event of the year is almost here. Our students will head into the Yorktown community and knock doors to explain our program and ask for donations. This no-frills event generates revenue to pay for clinicians, charter buses, equipment, and more. We still need a few more drivers. Support the band from the comfort of your car. Breakfast provided (where you will receive maps and all the instructions you need). Don’t wait – sign up TODAY so we can finalize logistics.
“Get on the bus” to JMU
Our next competition is our largest event at James Madison University Parade of Champions. The YHS Marching Band will be performing in the professional-grade Bridgeforth Stadium, complete with the scenic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the background. We have room on the charter bus for some of our favorite people – supporters! Sign up to ride the bus here. Of course, at any competition we need a ton of help to make sure our kids have everything they need for a successful show. Volunteers get priority for bus seats. Sign up to volunteer here. If you have already indicated that you are volunteering and/or have already asked to ride the bus, please still sign up to ride at the link above so we can be sure we have everyone.
Helping our Fellow Bands
Finally, the weather is looking great for us for band day, but our friends at Wakefield weren’t so lucky. Please support them and show them that band families are the best families because we stick together. 150+ Wakefield Band, Orchestra & Chorus students had planned to knock on almost 9000 doors on Saturday asking for donations towards buses and scholarships for their music competition this Spring. But Mother Nature decided to not cooperate. Please consider a donation, even if it’s small to make their “Virtual Tag Day” successful. #WakefieldTagDay
