Dear band families,

First – our biggest announcement is a location change for the Marching Band Volunteer Celebration on Tuesday! Due to anticipated crowds at our original location, we’ll be moving our night to Carpool on Glebe Rd. We invite any marching band volunteers to join us for some games, libations, snacks, and/or stories. Otherwise, there are lots of deadlines and events coming up in the next few weeks. As a reward for it all, come relax with friends and family at the recently renovated Ireland’s Four Courts on Wed, 2/28 and a generous percentage of your check will be donated to the Yorktown Band program. We’re attaching a graphic you can use to share with your friends on social media. Check the message below for more news.

Marching Band Volunteer Celebration

It took an amazing number of parent volunteers to pull off this marching band season. We appreciate every one of you who worked on props, moved props, stored props, loaded props, loaded instruments, chaperoned students, went to band camp, planned events, worked football concessions, carried the first aid, prepared uniforms, made last minute repairs, assembled podia, and every other bit you all did to help. Now that we’ve all had time to recover and get through the holidays – we look forward to finally relaxing together. Hope you can join us at Carpool (see here for parking/Metro directions) for some pool, darts, pinball, and stories.

Boston Trip Forms and Remaining Deadlines

All remaining forms required for the Boston trip have been posted online. The required Field Trip Authorization form and Luggage and Lodging Search Permission must be turned in by February 23. These can be downloaded online but must be signed and returned. Forms can be emailed to springtrip@yorktownband.org OR sent to Mr. Witkowski. The remaining balance of $500 per student ($250 for chaperones) is also due on February 23. Any deposits that are still unpaid should be paid as soon as possible.

Finally, if your student will be administering medications you will need to submit the Medication Authorization form (one per medication) by March 31. Only prescription medications require a physician’s signature. If you have previously submitted a form this year, please contact springtrip@yorktownband.org and we’ll locate it. Medication forms only need to be submitted once per school year.

Concerts and Treats Return

On February 26 (Concert Band) and February 27 (Wind Ensemble), Yorktown will host Pyramid Concerts at which middle schools and Yorktown bands perform. The Yorktown Band Boosters will sell refreshments at both concerts as a fundraiser. Please sign up HERE to contribute refreshments and to volunteer.
