Happy last day of school! Congratulations to all students and parents on finishing out a fun and successful year! This will be the last weekly communication from the Band Boosters for this school year. Please keep an eye out for occasional communications during summer, especially as we seek volunteers for Marching Band activities.

“Getting to Know You” Social Event Success
Thank you to everyone who made it out to the “getting to know you” social event last night! It was a great show of support for the band programs, and we enjoyed welcoming new band families to the YHS band community. Special thanks to Susie Wallin, Carole Ahmed, and Erica Preston for providing the treats and information resources! If you were unable to attend, see the links at the bottom of this email for some handy resources.
Concert Attire Returns
All concert attire provided by the school (dresses and tuxedo pants and jackets) should be returned in the school-issued garment bag as soon as possible, with exceptions for students who are performing at graduation. Students should keep their own shoes, bowties, tuxedo shirts, and socks purchased by their family. Any items borrowed from the concert attire emergency inventory should also be returned to the school.
Marching Band Payment due June 15th
Band camp will take place Aug 4-9th in Mercersburg, PA. All marching band students are expected to attend. Please email Susie Wallin to confirm your student’s attendance. By June 15th, please complete the required forms and make a deposit. Forms and details are available at https://yorktownband.org/band-camp/.
Cappies Gala Available to Watch
The Cappies Gala will be broadcast on June 15th at 4:00 p.m., and on June 16th at 7:00 p.m. on the FCPS Channel 21 Livestream at: https://www.fcps.edu/tv. Please check the programming guide for any date/time updates. It will also be available on Monday, June 17th on Red Apple Channel 21 (Verizon FIOS and Cox in Fairfax County, VA).
Marching Band Pre-Camp Rehearsals and Volunteer Needs
The Marching Band will have pre-camp rehearsals July 30th – August 1st. Students will be measured for their uniforms during rehearsal, so we will need a few parent volunteers to help. No previous experience needed! Please keep an eye out for the Sign-Up Genius.
Fundraising and Apparel Store Suggestions
Calling all great ideas! We are looking for additional fundraising opportunities this coming year, as well as ideas for what should be available through the apparel store. Please submit suggestions to YorktownBandArlington@gmail.com. Also, order your gear now so that it will arrive in time for the start of the school year!
