Congratulations to all of our students who participated in the Practice-A-Thon and Drum-A-Thon. The winterguard Spin-A-Thon (scheduled for February 10) has started off strong. Please share in your social networks to help boost their cause.

Practice-A-Thon Winners
The quote may go “Never look at the trombones, it only encourages them” – but in this case it worked! Congratulations to the trombones for being top section winner. It was a super-close contest with only a few days per student between first place (trombones), second place (low-est brass) and third place (saxophones). Our individual top fundraisers were Carson W., Orion P., and Jacob G. Our top practicer was Nyx H. Also congratulations to our top YHS Drum-A-Thon fundraiser, Matt T (who will also get special early bus boarding).
Students received a full list of winners. Any students who reached half of their fundraising goal are entitled to the “Snack” prize while students who reached their full goal are entitled to the “Meal” Prize. Students must select their prize by Monday, Feb 12.
Boston Trip Update
Parents should have received an email this morning. The remaining balance of $500 per student ($250 for chaperones) is due on February 23. Any deposits that are still unpaid are also due at this time. You can find the full details (including payment info) at https://yorktownband.org/boston
Mason Jazz Fest
Once again, our big band will be attending the Mason Jazz Festival at GMU on February 17. We are seeking two chaperones to assist with the trip. This will be a morning obligations with more details to come. Please contact yorktownbandarlington@gmail.com if you are able to help.
Concerts and Treats Return
The end of February marks our pre-assessment concerts for Concert Band and Wind Ensemble. These will feature “pyramid” concerts with our future Patriots from the elementaries, Williamsburg Middle School, and Swanson Middle School as well as our own United Sound. Once again the boosters will be serving up concert refreshments with your help. Details will be coming soon with signups for donations of treats and assistance with sales.
