Dear Band Families,
Thank you to all of the support you have shown to our Yorktown Marching Patriots this season and a special thanks to our Senior Night committee that made our final <sniff> evening special. Also a special thanks to everyone who showed up for our special Halloween fundraiser at Deli Italiano. The YHS Band program never rests, however, and we’re already on to our anticipated Chamber Music Concert this evening. Additionally, Winterguard and Indoor Percussion rehearsals have begun

Concert Tonight – Download Program
Featuring the Musicians of the Yorktown Wind and Percussion Ensembles. The concert begins at 7pm in the YHS Auditorium. Non-performing band members should plan to attend. As in previous years, concert programs will only be available electronically. A QR code will be available at the concert to view the program. If you are one of those folks who have troubles downloading at YHS, download the program in advance!
Final Winter Guard Open House Tonight
Unlike the color guard in the fall marching season, winter guard is performed indoors in a gymnasium. Performances make use of recorded music, painted floors and scenery. The Indoor Guard competes regionally within the Atlantic Indoor Association circuit. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY, and no try outs required. The coaches and veteran color guard members will support and teach new members all they need to know to get started and have a successful winterguard experience! The season begins in late November and runs through March. Details available on the website.
Hold the Date – Lebanese Taverna Gift Card Fundraiser
We’re partnering with our local fiends (and Yorktown alum and current parents) to help you with your gift giving this holiday season. Lebanese Taverna gift cards will be available on December 8 with 20% of the proceeds donated to YHS Bands! Gift cards are good at all Lebanese Taverna locations including the Market making them great gits for any of your DMV friends (or back-up plans for those busy holiday nights). More details to come!
ICYMI: Spring Trip In the Works – Save the Dates
From Mr. Witkowski’s update this week: “We are continuing to work on plans for a spring trip open to all YHS Bands students likely to New York City but potentially Boston. Right now, it looks like April 24 or 25 – 27 is likely. I hope to have more clarity on this soon. Students will need to have a zero balance on their financial statements with the band in order to be eligible for the trip.”
