Hello band families,

First off – Congratulations to our Marching Patriots for placing 3rd at the JMU Parade of Champions and especially to our guard and percussion sections who took honors as best in the class.

Meeting Change

Tonight’s originally scheduled booster meeting will not take place due to the Beyond APS College Fair. Instead, we will be holding a parent brainstorming session next Tuesday, October 17, during the students’ rehearsal. We’ll be brainstorming fundraising, alumni outreach, and next year’s volunteer staffing. Come prepared to offer ideas and to hang out socially with your fellow band parents. Location TBA (similar to Westover Beer Garden, email yorktownbandarlington@gmail.com if you have a suggestion).

Volunteers Needed

If you’ve been waiting for a non-marching opportunity, we’re ready for you! It’s time for concert band fittings. We need to measure and fit our concert band and wind ensemble students for their tuxes and performance dresses. No experience necessary. Sign up today for slots Friday morning, and next week on Monday and/or Friday mornings during student’s band classes.

  • We still need 1-2 more people to help store props tonight after rehearsal – sign up so our students can get home sooner
  • Homecoming football – looking for several more people to help with props for the field show this Friday. Sign up to help at the game!
  • Homecoming concessions – if working with props isn’t your thing, the YHS booster organizations still need another volunteer to staff concessions for the football game. This is a great way to make money for the band while getting to know other YHS parents in athletics boosters. Sign up for concessions.
