Dear Boston band families,
I had the pleasure of meeting with your students yesterday to go over some of the logistics for the trip next week. As promised, I’m providing some more detail here. This email may be a bit long but includes all important details (promise).
Prepare for the Trip
We’ve put together a packing list to help you prepare. Note that we will be doing a lot of outdoor sight-seeting so comfortable shoes, sunblock, hat, light jacket, etc. should be included. We will also attend a performance of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and so appropriate attire will be needed for that. All students who attended yesterday’s meeting should have picked up their Boston Tour shirt (special thanks to Najeeb Ahmed for his wicked awesome design). If you did not pick up your shirt, Mr. Witkowski has it in his office.
Money for the Trip
The cost paid for the trip includes all breakfasts, dinners, accommodations, sightseeing, tickets, and gratuities. It does NOT include lunch each day. You will need to bring a bag lunch for our first travel day and money for lunch on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Additional money may be brought for snacks at rest stops and souvenirs along the way if desired.
Missing School
You will be missing school next Thursday and Friday. This will be an excused absence, BUT students are responsible with coordinating with their teachers to make up any missed work.
Departure
Report time on Thursday, April 25 is 7:15 AM. Students should report to the YHS band room with all luggage and instruments. They will receive instructions there for loading and we will depart prior to the start of the school day.
On the Trip
I will be sending out a more detailed itinerary next week for students. You will also be seeing a google form from me shortly to select meal options for some of our dinners. You will need to respond quickly so please keep an eye out for it. I will also be sending out my cell phone number prior to the trip for anyone needing to get in touch with us during the trip.
Arrival
The estimated arrival time on Sunday, April 28 is 6pm at YHS. We will alert students when we are an hour out and when we are nearing school to arrange for pick-up.
